To Drink or to Not to Drink (Now)? That is the Question.

Our most EDBL Christmas gifts comes from Penticton’s Poplar Grove Winery. Legacy 2017  is a blend of Merlot (71%), Cabernet Sauvignon (12%) and Cabernet Franc (17%). Rich in colour with aromas of currant, coffee and cedar and flavours of blackberry briar and ripe plums followed by hints of leather, spice and vanilla, this is a deep and rich wine. You can pair Legacy 2007 with a Christmas ham, juicy rib eye or rack of lamb with roasted vegetables.

The three grape varieties found in the Legacy 2007 were harvested during a particularly cold year, and then fermented separately. The wine was then aged in French oak for 21 months followed by 24 months in the cellars of Poplar Grove. The result is a powerful wine with excellent cellaring potential. The winemaker notes that the wine is ready to be explored now (after an hour or so decanting) or held to let the wine continue to develop and improve for the next ten to 15 years.

Hmm, to drink or not to drink (now)? That is the question. What will you decide?

Legacy 2007 will make a wonderful gift for the oenophiles on your list and is available at private liquor stores from $50 to $60.
